Printer Driver not installed. Access is Denied. in Windows 7

Original Message from:

I'm trying to install a network printer in a Windows 7 computer. However, I keep on getting this error, "Printer Driver not installed. Access is Denied." I can print from my other windows 7 computer within my network and also I can ping the printer from the affected pc.

  1. btw here are the steps i've done to try to install it:

    1. Click on Start, Device and Printers
    2. Click on Add a printer from the top menu
    3. Select Add a Local Printer
    4. Select Create a New Port and the type as Standard TCP/IP Port. Click Next.
    5. In the Port Name box, type IP address of the printer (i.e. 192.168.X.X). Press Next.
    6. Find the drivers via Have Disk > Browse > Nex >Install

  2. are these the same steps you did to install the printer in the other computer?

ok, try this first, make sure you are logged in with admin privileges.

Share the printer from the PC where it is installed. Then get its local IP address (192.168.x.x)

Now, go to the (subject) computer go to start type in \\192.168.x.x (the IP address of the other computer).

If you see the printer Icon double click it and proceed as accordingly.
