Original Message from:

Hi - just did the latest windows 7 64-bit updates and when my laptop restarted, the keyboard and mouse were not responsive and I was unable to login to windows. I have since done a system restore to an earlier date, but every attempt to install these updates has left me unable to login to windows. i searched microsoft's support website, but have found nothing yet. can you point me in the right direction please? Thanks!

  1. Hi Jennifer!

Thank you for dropping by. We need to identify which update is causing your computer to fail. Would you already know what is the name of the update [ex. Hotfix for Windows(KB975476)]?

Let me clarify, were you able to login to windows after you do system restore?

  2. I have the same problem I uninstalled and reinstalled

    Removal Tool - October 2010 (KB890830)

    With the following info bellow:

    Download size: 11.2 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

    Update type: Important

After the download, this tool runs one time to check your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps remove any infection that is found. If an infection is found, the tool will display a status report the next time that you start your computer. A new version of the tool will be offered every month. If you want to manually run the tool on your computer, you can download a copy from the Microsoft Download Center, or you can run an online version from microsoft.com. This tool is not a replacement for an antivirus product. To help protect your computer, you should use an antivirus product.
