Michael
Hello,
I am using Windows Xp Pro
When I try to use the system information tool in start menu it says \" Cannot Collect Information
Windows Management Files May Be Moved Or Missing\" Is their a Simple Way to fix this?
Hi Michael!
Here is an Article that provides information about the usual cause of this issue and the troubleshooting steps to follow.
Root Cause:
"The error message occurs if the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service is not started. This can occur if the service is disabled, if a dependent service is not started, or if a problem is preventing the WMI service from starting. The System Information utility will be able to collect information after the WMI service is started."
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, make sure that the following services start correctly:
- Event Log
- Windows Management Instrumentation
- Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Steps:
- Run Services.msc.
- At the list Services find the service you want to edit. Below shows Event log in the Services list.
- Double click on Event log to open the Properties dialogue box.
- Set the Start up Type to Automatic
- Repeat all these for all the other services.
